Lifetime will air their new movie The Pregnancy Pact, which premieres Saturday, January 23, 2010.

Lifetime claimed in November the film was “inspired by a true story” and “explores the costs of teen pregnancy set against the backdrop of the infamous alleged 2008 ‘pregnancy pact’ in Gloucester, Massachusetts.”

Now, Lifetime has backtracked, saying, “This film is the story of a fictional ‘pregnancy pact’ set against the backdrop of actual news reports about teen pregnancy from June 2008.

Gloucester Schools Superintendent Christopher Farmer said Lifetime never contacted him and his investigation “found absolutely no evidence” of a pregnancy pact. City councilor and former school committeeman Greg Verga added: “How can you base a true story on something that is alleged?”

  • Kaila holds Xavier outside McDonald's where she and Xavier's mom, Alivia, worked during Aivia's pregnancy. Kaila was fired when she was unable to work her scheduled shift because Alivia went into labor prematurely.Alivia is one of the girls to receive media attention because of the rise in pregnancy rates among students at Gloucester High School in Massachusetts.
  • The football stadium at Gloucester High School. At the beginning of the 2008 school year, 18 of Gloucester High's students were expecting babies. The media quickly spread word of a pregnancy pact, something the girls denied.
  • Kaila, 17, has been the voice for many of the pregnant girls because her friends 'had enough to deal with.' Though Kaila herself is not a mother, she has taken on the role of 'father' to son of best friend Alivia.
  • Kaila texting in her bedroom. Kaila lives with her family in the Maplewood housing project in West Gloucester. Though she has taken on adult responsibilities, she still enjoys being a typical teenager.
  • Kaila gets a ride to pick up Xavier so she can watch him while his mother attends a baby shower for another teenaged mother from school.
  • Kaila and Alivia with Xavier in the backseat on the way to the baby shower. The girls call getting pregnant an 'unplanned blessing.'
  • Alivia leaving for the baby shower. Some of the new mothers from Gloucester High have been friends for years, and look forward to raising their children together.
  • Kaila and Xavier ride back to Kaila's home.
  • Kaila changing Xavier's diaper. On school days, Xavier can go to the free daycare center at Gloucester High School that is paid for by the state, but Kaila enjoys caring for Xavier as much as she can.
  • Kaila plays with her cats while Xavier sleeps.
  • Despite the fact that the father of the baby, a 21 year old Brazilian immigrant, had previously been involved with Kaila, the girls remain best friends and are committed to caring for Xavier together.
  • Xavier was born almost 3 months premature, and was born with numerous health complications which may prevent him from walking or having normal brain development. Alivia says she thought she knew what having a child was going to be like, but 'it's been more than normal.'

  • Sally, Kaila's mom, shares a tight bond with her daughter. Sally was 17 when she had her first child and understands what the girls are 'dealing with.'
